Autonomous System 202909

Independent Network Research Lab

Exploring Anycast Architectures & Sovereign European Networking

Mission

AS202909 is an independent, non-commercial research initiative dedicated to the study of internet routing protocols and large-scale infrastructure resilience. The project serves as a technical testing ground for BGP configurations, Anycast distribution, and advanced network security models.

In an increasingly centralized internet environment, our lab investigates decentralized infrastructure models that prioritize data sovereignty and routing transparency within the European jurisdiction.

Lab Status

● Bootstrapping Phase

  • Bootstrapping: Dec 2025 - Mid 2026
  • Optimization: Mid 2026 - Dec 2026
  • Research: Quarterly (Months 2 & 3)
  • Calibration: Quarterly (Month 1)

Current Research Areas

Anycast Icon
Anycast Optimization

Analysis of latency-based routing to geographically distributed nodes using advanced BGP community steering.

Resilience Icon
Traffic Resilience

Evaluating infrastructure hardening and packet-flow behavior through the implementation of open-source toolchains like XDP and eBPF.

Sovereignty Icon
Data Sovereignty

Measuring path diversity to ensure critical data streams remain within defined legal and geographic European boundaries.

Peering Policy & Technical Info

AS202909 maintains an Open Peering Policy. We seek to interconnect with other research networks, community-driven ISPs, and academic institutions to foster a more robust internet ecosystem.

Partner with the Lab

To scale our sovereign European infrastructure, the AS202909 Research Lab seeks strategic partnerships with network providers and data center operators.

We welcome support in the form of:

IP-Transit (Full Table/Default) Colocation Space (1-2U) BGP-enabled VPS / Compute Cross-Connect Sponsoring

Collaborative Research

Strategic partners have the unique opportunity to influence our research roadmap. If your organization faces specific technical challenges in the realm of BGP routing, Anycast scaling, or edge security, you can submit **Research Requests**.

Your Benefits

  • Custom Insights: We analyze specific edge cases or protocol behaviors relevant to your infrastructure.
  • Performance Data: Gain access to detailed benchmarks and latency reports from our distributed European nodes.
  • Innovation Feedback: Use AS202909 as a neutral sandbox to test experimental network configurations.
